Ens endinsarem en l’obra d’una sèrie de grans mestres del cinema nord-americà de diferents èpoques, des d'aquells que formen part de la tradició del cinema clàssic fins als que ja enceten el cinema independent i els modes de representació postmoderns, com Victor Fleming, John Frankenheimer, Arthur Penn, John Cassavetes o Spike Lee. En tots ells esbrinarem qüestions interessants relatives al llenguatge cinematogràfic, el subtext al·legòric i les simbologies, les lectures psicoanalítiques, socials o polítiques, etc.
