A l'estiu de 1961 un grup de joves antropòlegs italians va fer un viatge clandestí per Espanya, amb la finalitat de gravar cançons populars que donessin suport a la resistència antifranquista. Com a resultat del seu treball, van ser processats i les seves gravacions censurades. Seixanta anys després i de la mà d'Emilio Jona, de 92 anys, últim membre viu d'aquell grup de viatgers, recuperen les gravacions inèdites i reconstrueixen el viatge, avui, a través d'un paisatge emocional i polític, recuperant records històrics a través d'aquestes cançons, tan rellevants avui com ho van ser llavors.
