Ocupa dos sots de les antigues pedreres de la Foixarda de Montjuïc. En un hi ha una col·lecció de plantes mediterrànies, amb arbres magnífics i un clima humit i fresc per estar enclotat. L'espai de l'esquerra és més obert, amb una masia construïda amb motiu de l'Exposició Universal del 1929. Actualment, hi ha un hort gestionat per l'Associació d'Amics del Jardí Botànic i està envoltat per vegetació de l'època. Situat darrere del MNAC, va ser construït per Pius Font i Quer el 1930.
