Una netejadora i un famós exjugador de waterpolo es queden tancats en un ascensor d'un edifici d'oficines, sorgint entre ells una espontània antipatia.

Però una coincidència aparentment banal desencadena un viatge emocional ple de personatges i de situacions pels racons de la memòria de tots dos. Un viatge del qual aniran perdent el control a mesura que l'ascensor semblarà anar-lo prenent.
