How to get there

Drassana is a word of Arabic origin, which comes from the word daras-sina'ah, which means 'shipbuilding house', or 'place intended for shipbuilding'.
Les Drassanes Reials, or Royal Shipyards, of Barcelona are made up of 4 civil Gothic style buildings, which were built in different periods. From the 13th to the 18th century the site was dedicating to building ships, especially galleys, the most commonly used ship in the Mediterranean for centuries.

The construction of the Royal Shipyards of Barcelona was a boost for the country and the city, which developed dramatically thanks to increased trade and associated economic activities.
The restoration of the building, which currently houses the Maritime Museum of Barcelona, was completed in 2010, making it possible to recover one of the city's most iconic buildings which is fundamental for understanding the history of Barcelona and Catalonia.
