Previous editions
Organised by Barcelona City Council, the Fundació Mies van der Rohe and the Catalan Architects’ Association (COAC), with the support of Arquinfad and Construmat, the first edition of the Architecture Week took place in 2017, with the participation of all the organisations that work to promote architecture in the city, as well as representatives of various social, cultural and artistic disciplines.
Seven years after this first edition, the Architecture Week has become a well-established event, with an interdisciplinary programme that seeks to encourage participants to share their opinions and innovative perspectives on everything architecture, present and future.
Barcelona city residents have also contributed their perspectives, participating in the activities for all audiences that have been offered over the course of the various editions of the Week:
discussions, talks and seminars by notable figures from the world of architecture, but also parties, dance, music and educational activities for children.
This 2024, with a view to 2026, when Barcelona will become the World Capital of Architecture, the Architecture Week is branching out to become the Architecture Weeks, with a programme of events that will take place over the course of seven weeks and feature 183 activities led by 74 different organisations and 12 universities.
