The dialogues

  • Blanca Llum Vidal and Vicenç Altaió

    Reading by Blanca Llum Vidal

In this dialogue, moderated by the writer Adrià Pujol Cruells, Blanca Llum Vidal and Vicenç Altaió will discuss their latest books, Tan bonica i tirana (Proa, 2025) and El somni de la subversió (Galaxia Gutenberg, 2025). From memories of Barcelona in the 1970s and 1980s to frenzied love and wild desire in a transparent and obscure, beautiful and tyrannical collection of poems. The conversation will conclude with a poetry reading by Blanca Llum Vidal, winner of the 2024 Carles Riba Prize, and a reading by Vicenç Altaió of excerpts from his memoirs.

In collaboration with: Proa and Galaxia Gutenberg

    When: Friday 4 April at 6.30 p.m.
Where: Sarrià – J.V. Foix Library

Prior registration required Open in a new window

  • Ferran Torrent and Núria Cadenes

In this dialogue, moderated by the journalist Laura Serra, Ferran Torrent and Núria Cadenes will discuss their latest books El jo que no mor (Columna, 2025) and En carn i ossos (Ara Llibres, 2025). While Torrent has written a novel in which no one is who they say they are, but where facts and feelings are authentic and genuine, Cadenes plays with the boundaries between fiction and reality. Two works which, side by side, mark a journey from the Valencia of Cold War espionage to the lands of Valencia devastated by the DANA storm.

In collaboration with: Columna and Ara Llibres

    When: Monday 7 April at 6.30 p.m.
    Where: Gabriel García Márquez Library

Prior booking required Open in a new window

  • Olivia Laing and Juan Gómez Bárcena

In this dialogue, moderated by the journalist Núria Juanico, Olivia Laing and Juan Gómez Bárcena will discuss the books The Lonely City (Canongate, 2016), The Garden Against Time (Picador, 2024) and Mapa de soledades (Seix Barral, 2024). Three works that map out loneliness, both in the contemporary world and throughout history, while reflecting on the garden as a real and metaphorical paradise.

In collaboration with: Capitán Swing and Seix Barral

    When: Tuesday 8 April at 6.30 p.m.
    Where: Jaume Fuster Library

Prior booking required Open in a new window

  • Alberto Manguel, Ingrid Guardiola and Daniel Innerarity

In this dialogue, moderated by the writer and researcher Joaquín Rodríguez, Alberto Manguel, Ingrid Guardiola and Daniel Innerarity will discuss Una historia de la lectura (Alianza Editorial, 1996), Maimónides. Fe en la razón (Alianza Editorial, 2025), La servitud dels protocols (Arcàdia, 2025) and Una teoría crítica de la inteligencia artificial (Galaxia Gutenberg, 2025). A conversation about democracy in three areas: reading, technologies, and protocols and artificial intelligence.

In collaboration with: Alianza Editorial and Galaxia Gutenberg

    When: Wednesday 9 April at 6.30 p.m.
Where: Esquerra de l’Eixample – Agustí Centelles Library

Prior booking required Open in a new window

  • Jonathan Coe

Jonathan Coe will be in conversation with the writer and journalist Anna Ballbona about his latest novel, Bournville (Anagrama, 2024), a brilliant, moving and brutally funny portrait of contemporary Britain told through four generations of a Birmingham family.

    In collaboration with: Anagrama

    When: Thursday 10 April at 6.30 p.m.
    Where: Jaume Fuster Library

Prior booking required Open in a new window

  • Mar García Puig and Albert Sánchez Piñol

In this dialogue, moderated by the writer Ricard Ruiz Garzón, Mar García Puig and Albert Sánchez Piñol will discuss Això tan tenebrós (La Magrana, 2025) / Esta cosa de tinieblas (Debate, 2025) and Les tenebres del cor (La Campana, 2025) / Las tinieblas del corazón (Alfaguara, 2025). These two works offer a journey into darkness: from a luminous journey through the shadows of language, where metaphors are born, to a fascinating account of the history of an illusion, the Homeric story of individuals who were dazzled by pygmies.

In collaboration with: La Magrana, Debate, La Campana and Alfagura

    When: Friday 11 April at 6.30 p.m.
Where: Francesca Bonnemaison Library (the kitchen)
