The commitment of cities to sectors that foster innovation, attract talent and are able to generate an impact both globally and for the local ecosystem is leading to a change in the economic strategy of the world's major capitals. The race to become leaders in cultural and science production, as well as technological transformation, means that cities like Barcelona are launching initiatives to foster the potential of their city and metropolitan area as a place for culture, research and knowledge transfer.
In this session, we will be focusing on the urban strategies we need to promote in order to coordinate the needs of cultural facilities, research centres and places working on the transfer of technology. What can the City of Barcelona do to attract, support and facilitate the development of relevant projects in the strategic areas that will govern the future economy of the city and its metropolitan area?
