The cycling network gets 12.4 km of new lanes and improvements to another 9.4 km
Priority will be given to key points around existing lanes, with new lines between them and work at spots where it is needed, such as Montjuïc and Sant Martí. The work comes in addition to the work already carried out in nearly 21 kilometres of the network during this term of office.

The improvement to the infrastructure mostly responds to the need to shift bike lanes onto road surfaces, making for more efficient bicycle mobility and, most of all, safety for pedestrians.
Work is planned in most districts, adding 12.4 kilometres of new bike lanes and making improvements to a further 9.4 kilometres. Barcelona’s bike lane network currently covers 268 kilometres.
New bike lanes
Among the new lanes added, one that stands out is the new two-way lane of 6.6 kilometres on the mountain of Montjuïc. The lane will run between the Magic Fountain and Poble-sec and at the start of 2027 it should connect some of the main facilities and green spaces on the mountain, such as the Anella Olímpica, the Fundació Joan Miró, the Jardins de Laribal, the Jardins de Joan Brossa and the Jardins de Joan Maragall.
Other points to be connected are the section still to be completed in the remodelled Via Laietana with Pg Joan de Borbó; the bike lane in C/ Badajoz, of 1.6 kilometres reaching C/ Independència, and the improvement to the connection between the Jardinets de Gràcia and C/ Bonavista.
Improvements to the network
The transformation of the cycling route in Av. Diagonal should be completed with the construction of 4.6 kilometres of new two-way bike lanes between C/ Ciutat de Granada and C/ Josep Pla on the road surface, replacing the two existing bike lanes on the pavement.
At the other extreme of Av. Diagonal, the connection with Esplugues de Llobrgeat will also be improved with the construction of a new two-way bike lane of 565 metres as far as C/ Albert Bastardas.
Work is also planned in:
- Ronda del Guinardó
- Carrer de la Marina
- Carrer de Provença
- Carrer de Concepció Arenal
- Carrer d’Escòcia
- Carrer de Fernando Pessoa
- Passeig de Santa Coloma
- Passeig de Valldaura
- Travessera de les Corts
- Carrer de Viriat
Projects in Plaça de Catalunya and Ronda del Port
The next few years will also see work carried out on the cycling infrastructure in Plaça de Catalunya, which should facilitate the connection between Pg. Zona Franca and Pl. Drassanes via Ronda del Port.
