Architect
Lluís Ortega holds a PhD in Architecture from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and a Degree in Philosophy from the University of Barcelona, along with a Master of Science (AAD) from Columbia University. He is the co-founder and director of JL-Office and currently a tenured professor at UPC, where he leads the MADE Master’s programme in Architectural Design Ecology.
Previously, he has taught at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), Torcuato Di Tella University in Buenos Aires, the University of Alicante, Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design (GSD) in Cambridge and the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Vienna. From 2003 to 2005, he served as editor of Quaderns d’Arquitectura i Urbanisme and was also secretary of the jury for the 2022 and 2024 editions of the European Prize for Urban Public Space.
