OKEANÓS

Mirador Torre Glòries - Av. Diagonal, 211
The Torre Glòries is transformed into Okeanós [Oceanus], the Greek Titan, son of Uranus (Heaven) and Gaia (Earth), who personifies the ocean that encircles the Earth as a single, living global entity. The project uses colour as a universal language to explore the connectivity, interactions and flow of the oceans based on scientific data on ocean colour from NASA and ESA.
Through a visual experience, the work shows how sensors and satellites capture the radiation reflected by the surface of the sea, making it possible to monitor the concentration of phytoplankton, the health of ecosystems and the presence of pollutants. This information is crucial to understanding the role of the oceans and their seas in shaping the climate and conserving marine life. With this installation, Torre Glòries once again becomes a beacon of environmental awareness in the context of the UNESCO Ocean Decade (2021-2030).
Sponsored by Mirador Torre Glòries.

Her work uses scientific imagery produced by leading research centres to connect us with the beauty, complexity and mystery of the universe. Seemingly invisible universes are revealed in her visual experiences, unveiling a unified, networked, interconnected and interdependent vision of the world. In 2018, she presented her work at Pirelli HangarBicocca (Milan) with the Veronese Foundation. In 2019, she completed the 60 m² mural on the façade of the Institute of Marine Sciences in La Barceloneta entitled Ancestral Forest.
She was the first artist in residence at the Institute of Biomedical Research Barcelona, where she started work on El jardí de les delícies, inspired by Bosch [‘The Garden of Earthly Delights’], with the trilogy: Pulsió de vida, L'Edèn and L'Infern. Her work has been displayed in both solo and collective exhibitions. She is presenting the work Okeanós, a light installation that explores oceanic connectivity through the use of satellite images, at the Torre Glòries as part of the LLumBCN25 Festival.
