Jardins de Ca l’Aranyó - RBA building façade. Roc Boronat, 142

Author:
Daniel Rossa

Daniel Rossa presents an innovative audiovisual projection mapping installation designed for the façade of the RBA Building. The project establishes a conversation with the building’s architecture, creating a visual narrative that explores the duality between the permanent physical structure and the ephemeral nature of light and colour.

The creation is inspired by the unique aesthetics of the RBA Building, incorporating its distinctive geometric patterns and modernista elements in a work of video projection mapping designed especially for the space. The work transforms the building into a living structure, where the solid architecture interacts with fluid digital projections. The star of the installation is the façade’s system of window blinds, meticulously recreated in a 3D environment. This virtualisation allows for creating an illusion of realistic lighting effects and physical distortions transcending the static boundaries of the architecture — offering viewers an abstract, dreamlike interpretation of the building reflecting on its own architectural structure.

Daniel Rossa’s artistic practice lies at the intersection between digital and physical spheres. Through his work, he blurs the lines between these two worlds, creating immersive experiences that re-imagine our interaction with urban spaces. Educated at the prestigious Bauhaus University Weimar, his interdisciplinary approach to multimedia art, technology and science has profoundly influenced his career. His work transforms architectural spaces into dynamic canvases of light and movement.

One of his most acclaimed projects, ‘555 Kubik’, posed the question ‘What if a house could dream?’ Through 3D visualisation and optical illusions, he transformed the museum’s façade into a dynamic being that reflected on its own structure. His work has been exhibited in prestigious spaces such as the Sydney Opera House, London’s Saatchi Gallery, and Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie, and it has received international recognition, including the Cannes Design Lions and the German Lighting Design Award.
