Is green just a shadow of yellow? This is the unusual premise of a work that seeks to strip green of its typical attributes (such as lushness and abundant vegetation) to embrace concepts associated with landscapes dominated by yellow, such as desert expanses or the figure of the sun.

The installation envisions a space flooded with green light, where vast laser lines project an uninhabited terrain presided over by a great sphere: the Sun, the king of the sky. The resulting setting, which grows as visitors’ pupils adapt to the environment, encourages us to question our associations of certain perceptions with certain colours.

Barcelona-based artist Mario García, originally from Madrid, focuses on conceptual installations and exploring new possibilities of light through analogical approaches. For the past 10 years, he has participated in ephemeral art festivals, including the past edition of Off Llum Bcn, where he created a farm setting dominated by infrared lights in this same building.
