“(De)construct” is an interdisciplinary work of performance art created by the Plattform Association that brings together dance, light and sound. In this international collaboration between Germany, Spain and France, students in different artistic disciplines work together to develop a shared creative language. The project explores civil resistance through three historic moments: Leipzig 1989, Barcelona 1936 and Lyon 1939.
A thread of light is the guiding theme for the scenography, serving as both an interactive element for the performers and a polysemic symbol: construction and destruction, resistance and dialogue. This thread of light, which can be handled and transformed, sparks an ongoing conversation between the dancers and the space, creating visual landscapes that evolve over the course of the piece. Through movement and choreography, the work explores how a simple element can take on a wide range of meanings. “(De)construct” explores tensions between memorand the present, proposing new interpretations of European identity.
Plattform, a Franco-German creative association based in Lyon and directed by Alice Hénaff, promotes interdisciplinary artistic creation among young European artists, integrating art, science and technology. The project “(De)construire” project is coordinated by three prominent professionals: Benjamin Nesme, a lighting designer and the creator of Luminariste; Marc Sicard, an industrial designer with over 20 years of experience; and Natacha Paquignon, a choreographer specialising in dance and augmented reality. The current show brings together 20 students from Lycée Branly (lighting design) and ENSATT (sound design), along with 40 young dancers from Désoblique (Lyon), Tanz Zentrale (Leipzig) and MOVEO (Barcelona). This multidisciplinary collaboration creates works that transcend conventional artistic boundaries, merging dance and visual arts in innovative experiences.
