Conéctate [get connected] reclaims the connections between the city and the diversity of its groups. It’s a network of interconnections that generate unexpected links. The project does not talk about a metropolis in an abstract sense. It bases its reflection on the human map of the city of Barcelona. The main aim is to remind city residents that it’s not just important to recover the connection between individuals and their urban environment but also the need to create a community, fostering a collective sense among the people, perhaps not so anonymous, that live together. The project takes the form of a system of isolated structures that radiate a homogeneous white light, an area prepared for interaction with users. Their presence will affect the light’s intensity. Each new level of interaction generates various degrees of intensity until reaching an explosion of intense and vibrant light. This dynamic space concludes with the projection of messages that expose the shortfalls of a city incapable of listening to all its groups.
