Domestic Data Streamers

Every second, 6,000 tweets and more than 740,000 WhatsApp messages are sent and 694 Instagram posts are made. In the face of this avalanche of information, the latest studies about the human attention span say that it currently stands at 8 seconds and is getting shorter every year. “Data Heartbreak”, created specially for Llum BCN 2022, is a light-based exploration of intoxication, apathy and the importance of data.

Inspired by the reflections of Aldous Huxley, who feared that the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance, Domestic Data Streamers proposes an experiential journey where information is transformed into the light that enlightens us.

Domestic Data Streamers

Domestic Data Streamers is a Barcelona-based team of technologists, journalists and designers who have taken up the challenge of collecting and transforming raw data based on interactive systems and experiences. Highly experienced in digital media and interaction design, they play with the boundaries between art, science and sociology to bring themselves closer to the world of data with a more human approach.

The team was formed in October 2013, since when it has been creating installations for different national and international museums and institutions, notable among which are the United Nations, TED Talks and the California Academy of Sciences.

This light installations is not recommended for people with epilepsy or visual sensitivity.
