Poblenou Centre Park
Type: Installation
Audience: All ages
Phytochrome is the name of a photoreceptor protein in plants. And this installation aims to highlight the phenomenon of light pollution in cities and so adopts the shape of a field of giant illuminated grass, which reacts to the movements of the spectators passing by.
As they move between the city’s sources of light — street lamps and cars — and the sculpture, this change of colour and intensity, representing the direct relationship that exists between the levels of light pollution and the well-being of people and plants.
Spectators simply have to point at Fitocrom with the torchlight on their mobile device to see how it reacts to light.
