Galejada de Trabucaires

Early on 24 September, the city’s six colles de trabucaires (Perot Rocaguinarda, Sant Andreu de Palomar, Gràcia, Sant Antoni, L’Escamot de la Santíssima Trinitat and Sant Martí de Provençals) will meet for a salvo, that is, to ‘celebrate and convey the joy of the festival with loud noise’. The action begins at la Rambla/Canaletes with an impressive galejada (salvo display). After that, a passacaglia full of noise and boisterousness will travel down the Rambla to plaça de Sant Jaume. Their arrival dovetails with the time the authorities head to plaça de la Mercè for the Anada a Ofici (Service Procession).

The Trabucaires, armed with empty arquebuses, are featured in the opening ceremonies, processions and tributes, shooting into the air to announce the celebrations. A mixture of fire, tradition and gunpowder in a vibrant spectacle brimming with history.
