All the city’s statistics in one document

The publication of the Statistical Yearbook of the City of Barcelona 2023 continues a long tradition that began in 1902. This document provides a comprehensive snapshot of the city's territorial, demographic, social, cultural and economic situation. It is produced by the Statistics and Data Dissemination Department of the Municipal Data Office.

The Statistical Yearbook for 2023 presents a dynamic and diverse city that has overcome the effects of the pandemic. It highlights changes in demographic patterns, the economic fabric, social trends, living conditions and environmental factors affecting the population.

In addition to reviewing the state of Barcelona over the course of last year, the yearbook also provides data on the year 2024 in two specific areas: population and elections. It includes a demographic analysis based on the municipal population register as of 1 January 2024 and shows the results of the elections held this year (the Catalan parliamentary elections of May 2024).

A data analysis offers insight into the links between different aspects of urban life, the challenges and opportunities facing the city, and new realities such as digitalisation, sustainable mobility and the impact of climate change.

The Statistical Yearbook is available in three languages in the Barcelona Datastore, managed by the Municipal Data Office (OMD), and in the BCNROC institutional repository. All printed editions from 1902 onwards are accessible through these platforms. Those interested in more detailed research, whether by territorial breakdowns (e.g. neighbourhoods or census sections) or by time periods (e.g. historical series), can explore tables and microdata in the Barcelona Datastore.
