Discover 22@, Barcelona's innovation district

Walking tour at 22@ district

You may have heard of the 22@ district, but did you know that it was a pioneering urban, economic and social renovation and innovation project that today continues to attract the interest of international delegations from all over the world?

Come and discover the epicentre of innovation in Barcelona and the area of the city that is home to the highest concentration of tech companies on a guided tour around 22@.

We’ll tell you all about the history of this part of the city, formerly known as the Catalan Manchester because the first industries were located there. At the end of the 20th century, the area fell into decline and an ambitious transformation plan was drawn up which got under way in the year 2000 to transform it into an attractive urban environment for knowledge-intensive activities, and also a great place to live and work.

Today, 22@ is home to more than 12,000 companies together with a number of universities and training centres, which share the space with private homes and social housing, green spaces and municipal facilities. It’s an area of striking contrasts where you find ultra modern buildings alongside old factories that have been refurbished for new uses.

The tour takes you through the 22@ Innovation District where you’ll discover its history through a look at some of its most emblematic and representative spaces.
