Over the seven weeks, architecture proved to be a tool for building a fairer, more sustainable and resilient city, thanks to activities organised by 88 organisations and the hundred speakers who took part in discussions, conferences and round tables. The Architecture Weeks featured renowned architecture studios such as SUMA, Andrés Jaque, AV62, Peris+Toral, Harquitectes, Maio, Batlle i Roig, EMBT, b720, OAB, Mesura, BIG, Kengo Kuma and Ensamble Studio.

Some outstanding figures also took part, including Josep Llinàs, Elvira Dyangani, Carlo Ratti, Anna Bofill, Josep Ferrando, Cristina Goberna, Mario Corea, Margaret Crawford, Dani Freixes, Jordi Badia, Benedetta Tagliabue, Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, Esteve Bonell, Ramon Gras, Marina Herlop, Beatriz Borque, Gustav Düsing and BüroHacke.

Participants were able to visit and discover various examples of iconic architecture in the city during the course of this edition, from the Gothic style of the Monestir de Pedralbes or Les Drassanes, to the Modernisme of the Pavellons Güell and the rationalism of the Pavelló de la República and the former headquarters of the Gustau Gili publishing company. There were contemporary spaces to discover too, such as the Biblioteca Gabriel Garcia Márquez, the Sala Beckett, the Lleialtat Santsenca, the head office of the Agència Estatal de Meteorologia and Ricardo Bofill’s architecture studio.

Almost every weekend, each of Barcelona’s districts were able to enjoy an architecture festival courtesy of the Architects’ Association of Catalonia, with the collaboration of organisations such as Urban Sketchers and Globus Vermell, plus universities, professionals and a large number of associations.
