New regulation for activity by funerary services
A process is under way to develop new regulations establishing which non-residential sites can be used for activities by funerary services, and for those activities to be compatible with basic everyday facilities needed in neighbourhoods. In the interim, until the new regulations are in place, Barcelona City Council has placed a year-long suspension on the processing of urban plans for the creation or extension of funerary facilities, as well as works permits and activity notifications. The drafting process will take into account aspects linked to the type of sites where these activities are to be located, the density compared to other activities of the same kind, their compatibility with other uses and so forth.
To enable the urban planning document to be drafted, the Government Commission has agreed to suspend the processing of urban plans for the creation or extension of funerary facilities, as well as works permits and activity notifications. The suspension will not affect projects already being processed and will be in place for one year.
