Young & adults  will be the protagonist of two days dedicated to drawing. There will be about 30 activities, including workshops to learn and improve drawing technique given by well-known artists, such as Tom Carr and Tere Recarens, to name but a few. Grab your pencils, they are waiting for you on 19 and 20 October.

It is a production of the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona made in collaboration with the Museu Picasso Barcelona. Why now? Because it falls close to 25 October, the date on which, in the year 1881, Pablo Picasso was born.

Celebrate the artist’s anniversary in front of  white canvases placed all over the city. This year Experimentem amb l’ART, the Centre Cívic Urgell and the Espai Avinyó are joining other venues such as the Model or the Oh! Comics Fest (held this October at Fabra i Coats). In this edition, between 7pm and 11pm, there will be a series of evening workshops aimed at both young people over the age of sixteen and adults.

The aim is to show the importance of drawing, a way of bringing out and sharing emotions and feelings that is also a form of knowledge, expression and approach to culture. Among the artists taking part in the workshops that will be held around the city during these two days are Tom Carr, who invites participants to find L’objecte que m’atrau més at the Frederic Marès Museum; Gonzalo Elvira and Anita García, who will put together a drawing and collage workshop at the Tàpies Museum, taking the works of Antoni Tàpies and the stories of Horacio Quiroga as a starting point; the multidisciplinary artist Francesca Llopis who, at the Museu Can Framis – Fundació Vila Casas, invites us to draw what is, but is not seen in Dibuixar per a traduir un gest; the artist Nadia Hafid, who takes us on a journey into the past, present and future without leaving the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya; or the artist Tere Recarens, who invites those who enter the workshop she will be giving at La Capella to draw feelings and emotions.

La flor del Tamarindo, an illustrator who works from a diasporic, anti-racist and Caribbean perspective, will focus on non-hegemonic stories in her workshop at the Espai Avinyó and, for her part, the Japanese Mari Ito invites us, at the Fundació Joan Miró, to draw the landscapes suggested by the sounds of the late afternoon. Regina Giménez, finally, author of the poster announcing Barcelona Dibuixa (in the photograph), will also be giving a workshop at the Museu Picasso dedicated to breaking down in a simple way some of the works of the artist from Màlaga. 

The activities that form part of Barcelona Dibuixa will take place on Saturday 19 October from 4 to 8 p.m., from 7 to 12 a.m. in the case of the workshops for adults, and on Sunday 20 October from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free and registration is not required.
