Do you want to talk about serious things? Well, if you talk about them with the irony and irreverence you will find in this show, you won't lose your good mood. An ode to life made theatre.
We are all tormented by the idea of death. Our whole existence swings between the fear that premonitions of our demise engender in us and our desire to live our lives, to enjoy the things life offers us. Such as this production, in which six actors, three of them over seventy years of age, reflect on how memory disappears and our very selves dissolve. But there is nothing sad or bitter in their reflections, rather, an affirmation of the pleasure of living expressed with a note of irreverence, a touch of humour. All this, on an empty stage – the “zero” of the title – a no-place that could well serve as a metaphor for a memory that has become empty, or one of those nursing homes where the elderly are cooped up when they no longer meet society’s expectations of them.
