Ben Endins the emblematic live album, recorded at Sala Zeleste (now Razzmatazz), which includes the big hits from the early years of Sopa de Cabra, is 30 years old. Who would have thought that this album would have changed the lives of Sopa de Cabra’s members forever. This album achieved huge success and catapulted the band to the top of an emerging scene that used Catalan for its songs, freely and unapologetically.
It was a generation that identified with the values that Sopa de Cabra were putting across. If you didn’t have Ben Endins on cassette, CD or vinyl or hadn’t recorded it off a friend, you just weren’t cool and were missing out on something and were not part of the tribe.
Three decades later, Ben Endins has become the highest-selling album in Catalan rock history, with over 300,000 copies sold. A Portrait of a Generation. An album where we find the first great hits from Girona, such as Si te quedes amb mi, El boig de la ciutat, l’Empordà, Mai trobaràs or la gamberra El sexo (que me hace feliz).
Sopa de Cabra want to recapture that time with an anniversary tour on which they will play live much of this album, and which will feature all the great hits that led them to be considered one of the greatest Catalan bands of all time.
