Despite the youth of its members, this outstanding ensemble revives the most classical and traditional Cuban music. Their performances take us on a journey back to the son that was popular between the nineteen-twenties and fifties, enriched by contemporary touches.
`ico Saquito’s guaracha sounds, the troubadouresque boleros of Sindo Garay and Matamoros, the radical authenticity of the great Compay Segundo... There are many iconic names in the history of Cuban popular music, but few today who faithfully follow in their footsteps. However, there is a Barcelona-based group of Cuban musicians who have sworn love and devotion to the most popular sounds of the island, those heard in the early-twentieth century and abandoned by many who preferred to pursue a more modern style. Not the members of this ensemble, though; they do add modern touches to their music, but they also remain faithful to a classical sound that continues to delight audiences everywhere. The leader and musical director of the Septeto Sazonando is Ray Cuza, who has researched exhaustively into Cuban traditional and popular music and has lived in our city since 2003, collaborating on a wide range of projects and working with musicians from the Taller de Músics’ Original Jazz Orquestra to the singer Lucrecia. With the cuban singer Félix Richard as guest star.
