Peeping Tom

Spectators who saw 32 rue Vandenbranden at Grec 2012 or Vader (Pare) at Grec 2014 will be looking forward to submerging themselves once more in the parallel universe formed by memories, visions and nightmares that Peeping Tom creates so memorably. This year, the company returns to the city with a major production never seen here before. In it, Barcelona audiences will follow the story of a bourgeois family plunged into decline whose eccentric members move around in a kind of maze that symbolises a labyrinth of thoughts from which they cannot escape. All in all, a metaphor for life and the theatre, for a stage that belongs to the artists only fleetingly, a provisional space that is always “for rent” (Á louer) and which actors and dancers are compelled to reinvent and transform constantly. This space, formed by a clever trompe-l’oeil, is once more the driving force behind a work that, on this occasion, takes as its central theme the ephemeral nature of art and, by extension, life.

From July 18 to 20, after the performances of À louer, Gabriela Carrizo and Frank Chartier will lead workshops organized by Atrium -Sala Atrium- (18-20 July) in cooperation with Grec Festival de Barcelona and Institut del Teatre. During these sessions, devoted to research into movement, the two will introduce participants to the tools that they use when working with the Peeping Tom dance/theatre company.
