Jo Mai Mai [Never have I ever]. Ten-year tour

A singer/songwriter who speaks of love and games in his first album, Jo Mai Mai [Never have I ever], is celebrating ten years of his career with a very special performance that brings him to the Teatre Grec for the first time, performing with a 65-voice female chorus.

"Jo mai mai he desitjat fer un petó a la Judit” [Never have I ever wanted to kiss Judit] If you know this line, you probably also know the song it comes from, which lent its name to Joan Dausà’s first album. The song references a well-known truth-telling game in which anyone who can’t honestly make a certain statement, such as the above, has to drink from their glass. This is the song that launched this musician (and restorer) from Sant Feliu de Llobregat, who has also worked as an actor and has a degree in performance from the Institut del Teatre.

The song Jo Mai Mai, from the album of the same name, inspired the film Barcelona, nit d’estiu [Barcelona summer night], directed by Dani de la Orden, and whose soundtrack Dausà composed. In fact, Dausà made the music for this film and also for Barcelona, nit d’hivern, by the same director (2015).

So far, he has released a total of four albums and the two aforementioned soundtracks. In 2014, he released On seràs demà [Where will you be tomorrow?], in 2018, Ara som gegants [Now we are giants], and in 2021, Ho tenim tot [We have it all]. In 2023, he’s planning to release an EP to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of Jo Mai Mai.

Dausà is now taking a look back and, well-established as one of the most popular artists among the Catalan public, he’s launched a tour to celebrate ten years of his music which will feature songs from throughout his career, from the first album to the most recent. Playing old favourites, he promises to look back over ten years of happiness and sadness, smiles and tears, and once again, as he has done so many times, speak to us of love and life. In his debut at the Teatre Grec, the musician will be surrounded by a large choir formed by the 65 amateur singers of the Cor de Noies Cantabile, the women's choir Dorys d'Artmúsic and the choir Somriures from the Veu Barcelona Music school.

A  Promo Arts Music production.
