The most sensual interpreter of French chanson ever pays homage to Serge Gainsbourg, performing his songs in memory of the victims of the tsunami in Japan.
No matter whether you were being chased by the police in May’68 or hadn’t even been born then: you must have heard singer and actor Jane Birkin’s version of that sensual and immortal song “Je t’aime... moi non plus”. This icon of French music and 70s film is still a legend who attracts fans of all ages. On this occasion, we shall hear her perform songs by her one-time lover and drinking companion, Serge Gainsbourg, with whom she shared one of the most passionate affairs in twentieth-century France.
The concert will feature acoustic versions of eternal songs by the composer of “La Javanaise” and “Couleur Café”, performed in memory of the victims of the tsunami that struck Japan in 2011. Indeed, the musicians accompanying Birkin are from Japan.
