A visual haiku, a magic box made from the material of dreams, an immersive experience that transports us to an evanescent world... Technology becomes pure poetry in a show constructed from images, sounds and dance.
The Japanese "hakanaï" is an old word that alludes to the provisional state of things and is linked to both Nature and human existence. Fragility, evanescence, the transitory are, then, the themes evoked by this dance and technology show, presented for the first time in Barcelona. Hakanaï invites the spectator to watch as a solo performer dances inside a cube. Over the tulle-covered walls, four synchronised video projectors show constantly-changing images that interact with the dancer’s movements. In this magical space, dream and reality become fused: what was stationary, now moves; solid material takes on liquid properties; and things that seemed rigid become elastic. Through her movements, the dancer interacts with images that seem to suggest a mental landscape as hypnotic as the delicate live music that provides the soundtrack to this show. After the performance has ended, moreover, spectators are invited to come in and explore the space, entering this dreamlike habitat recently occupied by the dancer.
