A journey through different ways of living the passion of love, as seen through the characters that inhabit the comedies of the English playwright, performed by the best and the finest on the Catalan stage today.
Proteus and Julia, Valentine and Silvia from The Two Gentlemen of Verona; Benedick and Beatrice, Claudio and Hero from Much Ado About Nothing; and the quartet of knights and the quartet of ladies from Love’s Labours Lost... Loving couples like these fill the plays of William Shakespeare, the 450th anniversary of whose birth was celebrated in 2014. All these couples represent some of the many ways in which love explodes and manifests itself, from the charming idylls of gallant and superficial lovers to dirty tricks and even apparently hostile attitudes that conceal deep feeling. These stories, performed by an excellent cast of actors and actresses, were written four hundred years ago, but the feelings and manifestations of love have scarcely changed. Emotional conflicts as portrayed by Shakespeare will parade before our eyes, interspersed with the mocking interventions of the classical Shakespearean fool and enriched by music and songs. The thousand faces of love, in the words of the greatest playwright of all time.
