Xavier Pérez

Xavier Pérez (Barcelona, 1962) is a professor in Audiovisual Communication at Pompeu Fabra University and the coordinator of the CINEMA (Aesthetics of the Audiovisual Media Research Group) research group in this university's Communication Department. He was a film and theatre critic for the newspaper Avui, as well as a regular contributor to La Vanguardia’s Cultura/s supplement.  He and Jordi Balló have written the books La llavor immortal. Els arguments universals en el cinema (1995), Jo ja he estat aquí. Ficcions de la repetició (2005), Els riscos del saber (2009) and El món, un escenari. Shakespeare, el guionista invisible (2015), and he and Núria Bou have written El temps de l’heroi. Èpica i masculinitat en el cinema de Hollywood (2000). The core of these and other works is the relationship between audiovisual fiction, mythology, literature and theatre.
