THE UNIVERSE OF ADA HOFFMAN: DIVERSITY, COMPUTATION AND COSMIC HORROR
Ada Hoffman has become an internationally recognised author, thanks to her series The Outside, of which two volumes have been published in Catalan (The Outside and The Fallen); the third part of the trilogy will reach bookshops soon. Hoffman is a writer of hard science fiction who studied computational science. In her stories, she presents unusual characters: people who are not neurotypical, representatives of the LGTBI community, racialised characters, etc. In her brilliant hybridisation, Hoffman also combines technology, computation, myths, space opera and even personal cosmic horror, with gods and anxieties that go way beyond Lovecraftian concepts. With Karen Madrid, a journalist specialising in science fiction and the presenter of the Ràdio Sabadell programme Quimèric, we will take a look at Hoffman's career, as well as her motivations and concerns.
