THE TIME OF THE OTHER TRUTH: FESTIVAL 42 AWARDS CEREMONY
On Friday 10 November, Fabra i Coats will present an event that has become a Festival 42 classic: the presentation of its eponymous awards. In line with the Ictineu, the Ignotus, the Kelvin and the Hugo awards, since its first edition, this festival has offered a dozen awards for published works, which are chosen by prestigious juries who are celebrated for their discernment after only two editions. They help to disseminate the winning works and offer a trophy designed by Tono Cristòfol for the best works in the fantastical genres published during the previous year.
The jury, made up of Inés Macpherson, Miquel Codony, Tatiana Dunyó and Karen Madrid for the awards in Catalan, and by Borja Bilbao, Cristina Jurado, Leticia Lara and Daniel Pérez for the awards in Spanish, will be in charge of granting the awards in the same categories as last year: best original work in Catalan, best original work in Spanish, best work translated into Catalan, best work translated into Spanish, best classic translated into Catalan, for the breakthrough work of the year written in Catalan, for the breakthrough work in Spanish, the 2023 honorary award and the Alba 42 award for youth fantasy genres, which were added to the festival in 2022. This year a new category has been added to the awards: youth novel in Spanish.
If you attend the awards ceremony live, you will be able to watch the award recipients —who are kept secret until then— collect their awards, while enjoying the music played by writer and DJ Gerard Guix, an expert in genre music, to liven up the evening. Once the awards have been given, you will find an updated list of winners on the festival's website.
