CYBORGS AND "MECHAS" IN MANGA AND ANIME
Manga in Catalan is enjoying renewed momentum, evidenced by the appearance of new titles and the revival of classic collections in this language. However, this is not new in Catalonia; manga has always had a major influence on the comics and graphic novels conceived here, just as it has with non-realistic literature. With Jaime Ortega and Ester Gomà, experts in the world of Japanese comics and enthusiastic disseminators of it, we will discover the most famous robots, cyborgs and giant beings in the history of Asian comics and animation, as well as the origins of the genre. Veterans at giving talks on this topic at the Saló del Manga in Barcelona, Gomà and Ortega will also share the particularities of the mecha genre, characterised by the appearance of giant manned robots, and they will also explain the impact that this genre has had on domestic creators from the post-war period to the present.
