CAMILA FABBRI: STORIES OF THE DELUDED OR AWE-INSPIRING STORIES?
With Los accidentes (Paripé Books, 2020) a young Camila Fabbri made her debut in fantastic narration through an anthology of stories seemingly made with the same material dreams are. Or rather, with the same material that David Lynch’s dreams might be made with. Because what makes the common thread for narratives are not just accidents which give the work its name, but an augmented mutation of the notion of unease. This is Fabbri’s prose, a sharpened pen which dismantles normality and shows us that danger is always nearer than we think. The same thing happens with Estamos a salvo (Temas de hoy, 2022), a new work where something strange lies hidden in the everyday nature of each of the stories in the book. Fabbri’s prose undoubtedly creates fascinating worlds, all of them throbbing with a conflict which never comes out explicitly, but which builds up day after day. The author will be talking about all this and the human fragility that her stories highlight with the Chilean author Paulina Flores.
