Soroll Blanc #3. TRANSITION X TRANSACTION

25 February, 2017 - 11:00

TRANSITION X TRANSACTION
Saturday 25 February, 11:00 to 13:00
Ground floor of Fabra i Coats - Contemporary Art Centre, Barcelona
Activity open to everyone

A journey through the years of political transition in the district of Sant Andreu. We will meet those who lived through it and, at the old thread and textile factory, we will outline the chain of events that happened there.

We may end up considering a historiography based on paradigms of change, in an attempt to perceive shared sensations and psychological behaviours. In her book, The Future of Nostalgia (2001), although referring to the tragic accident of the Russian nuclear submarine Kursk, Sveltana Boym wrote, “One huge country shared the sense of claustrophobia and intimacy in the face of disaster. Now all were nostalgic for the potentials of perestroika, for that opening that was created in August 1991 and was never fully explored.”

With the screening of Ninguno, a video filmed with the support of the Miquel Casablancas Award and a visit to the old factory premises accompanied by former workers at COATS FABRA, S.A.
With the collaboration of:

GENERAL TEXT ABOUT THE PROJECT
WHITE SAND Transitions Between Sequences is a project by Lola Lasurt encompassed by the Loom programme of the Living In-between project, on display on the ground floor of the former Fabra i Coats textile factory, now a Contemporary Art Centre, in the Sant Andreu district. This project is understood, from a conversation practice viewpoint, to be a shared learning process, which over four sessions analyses and addresses, from a creative perspective, the space in-between. Moments of transition considered to be processes open to the possibility of change, at a time when the role of an art centre and its relationship with its most immediate surroundings is being reconsidered.
