First stage of the Tour de France 2026 to be held in Barcelona
The Fòrum will be the starting point for the event on 4 July 2026. The competition will make its way around iconic streets in the city and end up at the Estadi Olímpic de Montjuïc. The second stage starts from Tarragona on 5 July and ends up in Barcelona, while the third stage starts from Granollers.
The first stage of the Tour will be on 4 July 2026 and consist of a team stage against the clock around a circuit of 19.7 kilometres. The classification for the stage will be based on the time of the fastest cyclist from each team, but individual times will also be recorded for the general classification. Cyclists will start out from the city’s maritime façade, go past the Sagrada Família and reach the final section, with two consecutive climbs to get to the Estadi Olímpic de Montjuïc.
The second stage will be held on 5 July and cover a distance of 178 kilometres, taking in municipalities such as Torredembarra, El Vendrell, Vilanova i la Geltrú and Sitges before reaching Begues and finally Barcelona. As with the first stage, the route through the city ends up with a final circuit climbing to the castle at the top of Montjuïc, with three laps here.
Finally, the third stage sets off from Granollers on 6 July, with the definitive route to be announced during the official presentation of all the stages of the Tour de France 2026.
Before the event gets under way, the city will be hosting the official presentation of all the teams taking part, on 2 July.
