Av. Reina Maria Cristina closed to traffic for the concert “Catalonia with Valencia’
Av. Reina Maria Cristina will be closed to traffic from 7 am on Thursday 21 to 3 pm on Saturday 23 November, for all the concert installations to be set up and dismantled. The benefit concert is being organised by Òmnium Cultural and the Assemblea Nacional Catalana, with the support of forty other organisations, to raise money for rebuilding the cultural and educational spaces affected by the latest floods in southern Valencia.
The concert “Catalonia with Valencia’ is being held on Friday, 22 November, from 8 pm to 1 am, in an enclosed area to be assembled in Av. Reina Maria Cristina. From the evening of Wednesday 20 to the early hours of Thursday 21, parking will be prohibited in the avenue and also in Av. Rius i Taulet (from Guàrdia Urbana as far as Maria Cristina, in both directions).
The concert area and all the necessary installations will be set up on Thursday, 21, with Av. Reina Maria Cristina closed to traffic from 7 am until Sunday, 24, at 3 pm. Bus-stops will be relocated to Av. Rius i Taulet and C/ Guàrdia Urbana. The right-hand pavement (looking at Montjuïc) will be kept clear for emergency access and pedestrian access for local residents and visitors to the Parc de Montjuïc.
During the afternoon of Friday, 22, depending on the build-up of people at the entrance to the concert area from Pl. Espanya (doors open at 6.30 pm), the City Police may close the whole square to traffic, diverting vehicles before they reach there, or leaving just the arch between C/ Tarragona, C/ Creu Cobert and Gran Via open.
