The Eixample, the iconic representation of Barcelona’s enlargement and a mirror in which to see the Art Nouveau architecture movement, has been written about, painted and photographed in many ways, with poems, novels, paintings, photographs in black and white, and colour. Thanks to a collection called ‘Carnet de voyage’, we see a new approach to discovering the Eixample. There are illustrations by author Sagar Forniés who has observed its streets and squares while walking around the area. We find an Eixample which is both dreamlike and realistic.
