Looking ahead to the 1992 Olympic Games, and with the intention of integrating the beaches into the city’s green spaces, Barcelona opted to open up to the sea. Bogatell, in the Sant Martí district, is one of the magnificent beaches that resulted from this bold approach to urban development.
The Bogatell of fishermen
Bogatell Beach owes its name to the old stream that flowed down to the sea from Vilapicina. Given the Bogatell neighbourhood’s proximity to the sea, it was inhabited by some of Barcelona’s fishermen.
Like most of the shoreline, Bogatell has been the subject of several major renovation projects since the 1980s that have turned it into one of the most frequented beaches in the city.
Approximately 702 metres long, it is also one of the best equipped. It is the ideal place for playing sport, having a football pitch, a volleyball area and two table-tennis tables.
A cosmopolitan beach
Bogatell Beach is also one of the best places for spending an entertaining day in a cosmopolitan area. A considerable number of its users are from abroad. According to the municipal census, around 30% of the people who go there are not from the city.
The presence of people from all over the world, a youthful atmosphere and a full range of amenities means this is an option for people looking for a day of sun and chiringuito.

Des del 30 de juliol de 2022 queda prohibit fumar a les platges de Barcelona. S'exceptua d'aquesta prohibició l'espai ocupat per les "guinguetes-bar" de temporada instal·lades a la sorra.
El servei de suport al bany adreçat a les persones amb mobilitat reduïda que no poden accedir a l'aigua de manera autònoma es prestarà sota la supervisió del personal tècnic. Per garantir el funcionament correcte del servei i la comoditat de les persones usuàries cal sol·licitar cita prèvia (usuaris individuals i grups organitzats). La reserva es pot fer en línia o per telèfon.
Els grups organitzats i els centres sempre han de reservar cita prèvia per telèfon i especificar el nombre total d'assistents i el grau de dependència que tenen.
Les persones usuàries individuals que únicament vulguin fer ús de la zona d'ombra o necessitin material de préstec també hi poden accedir sense cita prèvia. En aquests casos, però, la disponibilitat d'espai, material i atenció queda supeditada a les cites de cada punt i es prioritzen les reserves formalitzades amb antelació.
