Barcelona has always been a main focal point for the publication of humour magazines in the south of Europe. Our country has produced some of the best artists of this indomitable, razor-sharp art form. In the spring of 2013 the top experts of the satire press, graphic humour and comics met in the Historic Archives of the City of Barcelona in order to examine the most important aspects of our rich comic tradition. This book is the result of those meetings, and takes a look back at its legacy, from the first satire magazines in the 19th century, to humour in advertising and during the Franco regime up until the modern-day unbridled irreverence of Perich.
