The Little Giants of the Village, built in the Can Boter de Tiana workshop, were born as the Little Giants of Poble Espanyol and to liven up the village’s activities and celebrations. The delicately sculptured little giants called Rosalia, Feliu, Paulina and Andreu symbolise the four seasons.
Rosalia is a young girl decorated with flowers as a symbol of spring; Feliu is a well-built young boy about to go reaping, who represents summer; Paulina is a chestnut seller with a paper cone in her hand full of chestnuts, symbolising autumn; and Andreu, an old man with a long, white beard leaning on a walking stick, symbolises winter.
At first, the little giants only took part in the activities of Poble Espanyol and, from time to time, in some specific events outside the area. They were inactive for a long time until a group of giant carriers was formed in the neighbourhood just a few years ago, who dusted them down and got them to join in the festivities again.
