Music
Listen, dance and feel. Really, enjoy music from a festive point of view. In fact music is inextricably linked to festivals; some people even associate music directly with festivities. It is clear that it is a field of popular and traditional culture that interlinks with the other areas.
It is difficult to imagine a quiet festival. The sound of drums creates the acoustic atmosphere necessary for us to immerse ourselves in the thrill of the correfoc, the fire run. The traditional reeded gralles tell us how high the human tower has got and when it is crowned with a raised hand; they make the enormous festival gegants dance and the bastoners hit their sticks together. The tible and the larger tenora, two more traditional instruments from the oboe family, bring such a unique and Catalan sound to the cobla music groups, the sardana dances and the concerts. Bands liven up the dances in the festa major, the main festival, with modern, popular tunes and the passos dobles of always. The voices of choirs and singing groups bring out the sensitivites and emotions, not only of the singers, but of those listening, too, in an activity where working together is crucial.
Going through it with a fine-toothed comb, we can construct a musical calendar where we see that there is a soundtrack for each moment in the year, and that together they make up their own musical universe that gives our celebrations an identity.
