Pessebre Vivent de la Torre del Suro
Since 1993, in the surroundings of the Casa de Repòs de Sant Camil, otherwise known as the Torre del Suro, the Pessebre Vivent de la Torre del Suro live nativity scene has been staged. It is the responsibility of the Taller Escola Sant Camil occupational centre, and involves a series of static tableaux, with costumed actors representing biblical scenes related to the birth of Christ.
The setting of the itinerary through these portrayals gives them a natural feel and a special atmosphere. The hill, the pine forest and a small cave are an amazing stage for the recreations. The actors, all of whom are mentally handicapped, bring life to the moving displays of pages, kings, demons, and shepherds as well as forgotten professions.
More than a hundred people take part, the majority of whom are students at the centre, with the help of professionals from the school. A visit to the annual Pessebre Vivent de la Torre del Suro live nativity scene is also an opportunity to see this modernist building constructed in 1910, and which normally has restricted access.
