Pastorets del Camp de l'Arpa del Jove Calassanç Teatre
The Jove Calassanç Teatre is one of the amateur theatre groups that perform the Pastorets (Shepherds) by Josep M. Folch i Torres every Christmas, although they adapt this traditional nativity play to produce a modern version with dance, music and humour. The Camp de l'Arpa production of the Pastorets keeps up a fast pace to surprise the audience with innovative portrayals of some of the characters in the traditional story. What's more, their adaptation is shorter, only lasting an hour, and aimed at a young audience. Their performances are held at the Casal Calassanç, which the group belong to and is in the Sant Martí parish of Sant Josep de Calassanç.
The Jove Calassanç Teatre was set up in 1985 to attract young people to the Casal Calassanç's theatre group and now has around a hundred members. Over the years the group has become firmly established and turned into a veritable school of theatre. Aside from staging plays throughout the year, the group promotes peace education based on liberty, justice, solidarity and democracy. They also play an active part in community activities in their parish.
