Emili and Maria Loreto are the two giants of one of Barcelona's central streets, Carrer de la Princesa. They belong to the Nogués-Rodés giant-carriers' family and were the first pair of private giants in the city. They represent a young king and queen from the Middle Ages and have a classical appearance.

Smaller than most of the giants in the city, they were acquired by Josep Maria Nogués, who wanted some to represent his street. They are mass-produced figures bought from the image-maker's workshop, El Ingenio. So they are identical to other gegantons or smaller giants that can be found in other Catalan towns.

Emili and Maria Loreto appeared for the first time in 1983, at the Santa Eulàlia festival in Ciutat Vella, and they were named after the owner's parents, who had the job of carrying them for many years. They can be regarded as the first active giants in the Sant Pere and La Ribera neighbourhoods, and a product of the revival in popular culture following the return of democracy.

A third member joined the family in 2002, another gegantó representing the grandfather of the Nogués-Rodés family, Joaquim Partagàs, better known as El Rei de la Màgia - The King of Magic. Since then he has regularly joined the couple on outings round the city.

The Gegants del carrer de la Princesa take part in the neighbourhood annual festival every year and it is not unusual to see them walking and dancing in popular gatherings and parades around Barcelona, where they are always carried by the Amics dels Gegants del carrer de la Princesa group.
