Colla Sardanista Violetes del Bosc
Founded in 1945, the Colla Sardanista Violetes del Bosc first won the Campionat de Catalunya championship for sardana-dancing groups in 1959. This success has been repeated many times, on top of a number of second places. The group's achievements also include winning "revessa" and "colla completa" championships, the Copa de Catalunya (Catalonia Cup), and the Barcelona territorial championships, the Campionat Territorial de la Ciutat de Barcelona.
In 1962, the colla Rosa de Sant Jordi was set up, which was sporadically accompanied by another group, the colla Primavera. In addition to the main dancing group, there is a veteran's colla: the Violetes del Cinquantenari, which was founded in 1995 for the golden jubilee.
For it's 25th anniversary, the group organised a performance of sardanes and cobla music at the Palau de la Música Catalana, in which some outstanding cobles took part. This event was repeated in 1985, 1990 and 1995 for the respective anniversaries. Also for the 25th anniversary, the Obra Sardanista Violetes del Bosc was established, to promote and popularise the world of sardanes.
The career and work of the Colla Sardanista Violetes del Bosc have been recognised with awards from various organisations and bodies, including the Medalla al Mèrit Cultural from the Diputació de Barcelona, the Venus de Barcelona from Barcelona City Council, the Rosa d'Or from Roses, the Palma d'Or from Vic, the Continuïtat de l'Obra prize from the Ballet Popular, and the Creu de Sant Jordi from the Catalan government. In addition, several sardanes have been dedicated to them by different composers, like Violetes del bosc by Agustí Borguñó (1960), El bosc de les Violetes by Emili Saló (1978), Temps de Violetes by Pepita Llunell (1996), and Violetes by Jesús Ventura Barnet.
