Colla sardanista 9 de Novembre
The sardana-dancing group known as 9 de Novembre is the youngest in the city: it was presented in the spring of 2014 during the official opening ceremony for Barcelona as the Sardana capital. Even so, it was officially named in Granollers a few weeks later. It is made up of dancers ranging from 18 to 45 years of age, hailing from various groups. Orange is its identifying colour and it owes its name to the date set for Catalonia's referendum for self-determination.
It is currently only taking part in the City of Barcelona Territorial Championship, because while it is a competitive group it has no wish to leave aside its recreational angle. It occasionally performs in the seasonal competitions held throughout the country, such as in Granollers, Vic, Ceret, Sitges and Cornellà de Llobregat.
Besides competitions, it has given sardana-dancing displays, notable among which include the performance in Cançó d'amor i de guerra at the Auditori de Cornellà and the Sardana Dances for Independence held in September 2014 at the city's Arc de Triomf. During the La Mercè festivities it also took part in the dancing displays given at Palauet Albéniz by Sardana-dancing groups.
And apart from all the strictly sardana-related activities, the group also organise recreational activities for their members, such as trips, an indoor football championship and other weekend activities.
