The Agrupació Sardanista Roure was founded in 1948 and by the 1960s it had five groups, or colles sardanistes. In the years that followed they enjoyed a lot of success in official competitions but in recent years they have not competed regularly.

Apart from taking part in competitions and dancing at exhibitions and festivals around Catalonia, colles have taken sardanes to cities like New York and Madrid, and various places in France and Poland.

The Roure Association offers sardana initiation courses and workshops run by its members to other associations in their centres. They also hold an annual revesses competition, which attracts a lot of dancers who not members of an established group.
